HPL |
The Humber Premier League was formed in 2000 and sits at the 13th tier of the English football pyramid. It began as a single division and expanded to include a Division One for the 2005/06 season.
The HPL is based primarily in the East Riding of Yorkshire, although some north Lincolnshire clubs participate. It nominally feeds the Central Midlands League under the larger umbrella of the Northern Counties East League. However, not many clubs have taken the step up, largely due to the fact that the bulk of the CML's clubs are based around Nottingham and Derby. Due to its status as a fairly new league and the general lack of hierarchical football structure in the Yorkshire area, the Humber Premier League has not established a history of promoting to a certain higher league, so its exact status within the pyramid is still being fleshed out.
