[edit] Beginnings

Born into a family with five brothers, Sanchez wanted since his early years to become an artist. His first 30 years were spent as a trial and error lab, when as a self taught, he developed a singular talent and technique that years later would dominate the Costa Rican watercolor market, amazing local critics by giving the watercolor a whole new texture and light.

"...whatever his theme is to paint, peace, sadness of man, the ordeal of humanity, or the round hope that lies within his artist heart, the color of his paintings is always attached to them (...) And already we have the accent that in truth, in Central America, very few artists have being able to brag about their work to tie his inspiration to it as Sánchez. Its results are those clear colors we can appreciate in his paintings, they scream out loud from their oil canvas, but watercolor in truth, (...) we have had as a guest for many years, one of the greatest painters in Latin America."
