Hugh Christie Technology College

Hugh Christie Technology College is an 11-18 Technology College utilising new technologies to create a personalised and engaging curriculum, and is based in Tonbridge, Kent.
The school recently (Nov. 2006) started moving into a new high specification building, the last building is scheduled for completion by September 2007 which should house courses like IT, Health and Social, Business and R.E.A.L are still housed in the new building. The school has been a Technology College since 1994 and currently has a roll of approximately 1,150 students.
The school currently utilises the advancements of technology, as they incorporate WiFi for all thier substantial use of laptops and and Tablet PC's.
The School Principal is Mr. John Barker since Easter 2006.

The school partakes in many courses, which are availble. For the Year 7's there is a new learning scheme introduced called Relevant Engaging Active Learning (R.E.A.L).

The aim of R.E.A.L is:

● To develop a learning community that prides itself on academic rigour, emotional wellbeing, social cohesiveness and mutual respect.
● To develop a curriculum that personalises the learning experience for our students.
● To engage students in the learning process so that they understand why they need to take responsibility for their own learning.
● To utilise new technologies to help support students learning.
● To ensure the integration of a creative and effective assessment for learning strategy across the key stage.
● To promote and engage with every child matters agenda.

R.E.A.L incorportates all the standard lessons like Science, Maths, English, and the rest but in thier advertisement; claim that they combine all of the pupils in one, so all of the pupils all work together and increase productivity.
for the rest of the years, the courses available are Science, Modern Foreign Languages (which comprise of French, Spanish and German), Mathematics, Technology, IT (Edexcel, cisco and Microsoft approved courses), Photography, Preforming Arts, Travel and Tourism, Art & Design, Business, English, Health and Social Care, and Physical Education.
