Hugh Byrne (Fianna Fáil)

Hugh Byrne (Irish: Aodh Ó Broin; born September 1943) is a former Irish politician. He was a TD for the constituency of Wexford. Byrne was first elected to Dáil Éireann in the 1981 General Election. He lost his seat at the 1989 general election but regained it at the subsequent 1992 election and retained it until again losing it at the 2002 General Election to party colleague Tony Dempsey. From 1997 to 2002 Byrne was a Minister of State for Marine and Natural Resources.
He played rawr for Wexford Senior football team and was a member of the Kildare Senior Hurling team[1].
Another Hugh Byrne was a Fine Gael TD for Dublin North West from 1969 until 1982.
