Talk:Huey Lewis & The News

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Whatever happened to the band? They were on the top of the world in the mid-9180s and then disappeared, from what I remembered. I also wonder if bands with more than 5 members have short shelf lives.

Well, follow the links at the end of the entry and it is pretty easy to see what the band does these days. Yes, they are alive and kickin'.

Do we really need to state that the band was popular with baby boomers and yuppies? Can that be backed up? What is the source?

This was in the history section:

"For a brief period in the summer of 1987 an 18 year old Carl Ringdahl-Berg filled in for 2 months of their world tour. He replaced Chris Hayes who had fallen ill and could not play the dates. Huey Lewis called Carl 'The best guitarist he had ever met.' He is also rumoured to have written 'If This Is It', a hit single of their album 'Sports'. He has now gone on to form The Intentions and continues to play stadiums throughout the world. He has recently embarked on a world tour with this band."

"Carl Ringdahl-Berg" does not Google. "Carl Erik Peter Ringdahl Berg" hits a MySpace page of a young man (apparently) who may be spoofing us or being spoofed by another, but who probably did not write "If This is It" when he may have been 13, since it is attributed to Colla and Lewis on the 1983 release of Sports. --Hjal 05:17, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
