Our band was formed in March of 2000 by a small group of law enforcement officers who played in various civilian bagpipe bands in the Hudson Valley Region. We began with ten members who had a mutual desire to serve our community and within two years have almost tripled in membership and we continue to grow today. We are comprised of law enforcement officers who are employed or reside within the Hudson Valley Region and are of Irish descent. It is our commitment to assist our community by providing quality entertainment in a variety of ways. We have donated our services and performed at events such as police graduations, awards ceremonies, police memorials, Dare Graduations throughout the Hudson Valley, at Valley Central High School with Det. Stephen McDonald, the NY-COPS Foundation on the Intrepid with the Hon. Governor George Pataki, the International Hotel and Restaurant Trade show at the Jacob Javitz Center, at many parades throughout the Hudson Valley and at several memorial and candlelight vigils resulting from the WTC tragedy. We've also performed regularly on area radio stations and cable networks as well as being featured in "The Buzz" section of the The Times Herald-Record. In all we've performed at approximately 100 area events throughout the Hudson Valley.
We currently have twelve sets of music in addition to many single tunes which we play at our various performances. Over the past six years we have helped several fire departments claim trophies for best marching unit while taking best pipe band and or musical unit In many of those parades as well. Piper Kevin Cummings maintains our web site which has received several awards for outstanding website construction. Our band members are clad in an original tartan which the band has registered with the Scottish Tartan Society. A gold colored shield is worn on the chest which represents the Hudson Valley law enforcement community of which we are a part.
We were able to accomplish so much in such a short period of time due to support received by a number of private organizations. The Beacon Elks Lodge, The Town of New Windsor and the Ancient Order of Hibernians - Division 2 in Cornwall have been gracious enough to lend us their facilities for practices and band events. Dana Distributors has provided us with transportation which has assisted us in getting to and from our destinations safely and responsibly as well as promoting our organization throughout the region.
