Hudson River Museum

The Hudson River Museum, located in Yonkers, New York, is the oldest and largest museum in Westchester County. The Yonkers Museum, founded in 1919 at City Hall, became the Hudson River Museum in 1948. The museum displays works of art from the 19th and 20th centuries, and has an extensive collection of works from the Hudson River school.

The museum is made up of several sections:

• Glenview Mansion, a National Register site built in 1877, was the home of one John Bond Trevor. It contains six period rooms displaying furniture and decor from that era.
• The Andrus Planetarium is the only public planetarium in Westchester County. It features a Zeiss M1015 Star Machine.
• The Hudson Riverama is an interactive environmental exhibition, featuring flora and fauna from throughout the length of the Hudson River.

The museum's gift shop, the only permanent installation by Pop artist Red Grooms in an art museum, was commissioned in 1977 and opened in 1979.

Over 100,000 people visit the museum each year, including 22,000 schoolchildren.
