Huamanga Archos
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Huamanga Archos are architectural pieces found in the Plaza de Armas of Huamanga, Peru. The "Plaza de Armas" is the center of the town and is called like that because it was the place to which the defenders of the city came first in case of emergency. It should be called the Plaza Mayo. However, in Huamanga, they know it as the Sucre park. Its four sides have portals built with columns and arcs of stone. The east side has 16 arcs or archos (in Spanish: Arcos). The south side 32, the west side 30 and the north 33.
