[edit] Change first picture
I suggest we change the first picture in the article, with one of the more beautiful ones below. They givea better impression of the city. Tridungvo 04:30, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Page move
I moved this page here from Hué, removing the accent (it can't be just plain Hue, because that's already taken). While the Vietnamese word does indeed have accents, there are two, not one: it's spelled Huế. I don't think ế is a possible character for a page title, and I think it would be best to have either all or nothing when it comes to accents. The é part represents a tone and the ê part represents a different sound, and I would prefer to avoid displaying one without the other - it gives the appearance that we're marking tones, but doing it wrong (as opposed to not trying to do it at all). Moreover, I think that if one is to be displayed, it should probably be the ê - that represents a difference in the actual sound of the letter, which English speakers are more likely to pay attention to than the tone. This is, of course, just my opinion - feel free to disagree. -- Vardion 02:53, 15 Feb 2004 (UTC)
I was in Hue a few months ago. In the Imperial Palace, there is very little that remains from before. The Vietnamese have rebuilt some of the buildings, but still, the majority of the area is a vast open site where beautiful buildings one stood. --- Feripe
The Chinese characters are also the traditional version. They should be changed to the simplified
- No, they shouldn't. Vietnam hasn't used Chinese characters in more than 100 years and the Simplified Chinese characters have no relevance to Vietnam. DHN 19:28, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Slanted image
We definitely need to replace that slanted image of the main entrance with a more upright one. It might make for interesting photography, but it hardly belongs that way in an encyclopedia. Maybe if someone could rotate it and crop the resulting corners off? – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs, blog) 15:49, 26 May 2005 (UTC)
- I gave it a try — the result is:
- Image:HuePalace.jpg
- There's quite a lot missing due to necessary cropping, unfortunately. -- Vardion 20:47, 26 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Population
Does anyone know the population figure for the city? --192.88.124.205 02:48, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Pronunciation
How is this pronounced? -Rolypolyman 03:00, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
Why is the Chinese "shunhua" instaed of just "hua"? 218.102.71.150 13:23, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Intro
I see that the chinese was removed. Also the name of the vietnamese language is in vietnamese transliteration? I am not sure if that is a good idea. And although the ogg is ok, maybe it should be included lower down in another section. I think that the introduction should be clean.--Filll 12:14, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- The Vietnamese name wasn't "transliterated" because that's how it's used officially. See Vietnamese alphabet. DHN 16:15, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
