Ht-//dig

The correct title of this article is ht://Dig. The article title conflicts with an existing namespace.

ht://Dig is a free software system for indexing and searching a finite set of sites or an intranet and is licensed under the GNU General Public License. It is intended to be installed on individual machines for private purposes. ht://Dig works differently from most search engines. Most engines use a two-step process, building an index and searching it. ht://Dig indexes pages in full, then processes the pages into a searchable form later. ht://Dig also stores fuzzy match information instead of using a dynamic algorithm.

ht://Dig is used by the GNU Project's website, gnu.org.

As of late February 2007, the last official release is Dig 3.2.0b6 announced on 16 July 2004. Only sporadic maintenance is in evidence since that date at the project's bug reporting page.
