HSR Layout

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HSR Layout also known as Hosur Sarjapur Road Layout is a relatively new residential area located to the southeast of the Indian city of Bangalore. Its geographical coordinates are 12° 54' 42" North, 77° 37' 52" East.

Since the growth of the real estate market in Bangalore, the layout has witnessed a dramatic demand for residential housing owing to its proximity to the commercial areas of the city. And the land prices have skyrocketed in recent years.

Built on reclaimed land from tank bunds, HSR layout experienced heavy flooding in October 2005.[1] The BDA is taking measures to counter this; drain-water canals are being built near the BDA complex which was heavily affected earlier.

Like many residential areas in Bangalore, HSR Layout is divided into sectors (Sectors 1 through 7) and further into Main arteries and Crosses. it is a complete layout with all facilities, there is a PoliceStation , Water Board office , Electricity Office , Banks and all other facilities.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology's Bangalore campus is located in HSR Layout. It also has other landmarks which include BDA complex, Agara Kere and Silk board flyover. There are also ample parks and eatouts in the layout, hence it makes a good spot for peaople to hang out. The better known spots are Cafe cofee day , BDA complex, fooddays etc .

It is about 7 km from Bangalore's other large residential area of Jayanagar, and 2 km from Koramangala. Once considered to be far from Bangalore, is today one of the prime properties in Bangalore and is very well connected by bus.

Recently a chain of Malls, Shopping Stores, Sweet Shops and other commercial buildings have been opened to cater to the Rich crowd that resides in this area.

A bigger proportion of IT people live here considering its proximity to the IT centres like Electronic City and Whitefield. Also this place is home to a dominating number of non-Bangaloreans who mostly consist of North Indians, people from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

The roads have been frequently tampered with in a hope to improve the sanitary facilities but unfortunately it has created more problems to the residents.

Even though all these issues, the rates of the land is increasing very rapidly and has expanded the South-East boundary of Bangalore City by atleast 5 km.
