Hormoz Island

Another beautiful and attractive Island of Persian Gulf is Hormoz which is 18 km east of Qeshm island. This Island is located about 16 km southeast of Bandar Abbas (Abbas Horbor)and at the middle of Persian Gulf waters and strait of Hormoz. Hormoz Island is like a shell about 42 square KMs wide that sedimentry and volcanic(eruption) layers cover its surface. Salty layers, that are like hills and are kinds of table salt, cover the majority surface of this magnificent Island,too. The highest point of this area is about 186 m above the sea level,and its thickest part is 8 km. For the lack of raining, and salty soil and water, naturally there should be no plants and grasslands in this area;but Iranian active specialists cultivated Hara trees in Hormoz Island and made it a green plushness Island.Exporting the soil of Hormoz Island to some Arabs countries around Persian Gulf is one of the main and important source of earning money for the natives(inhabitants). Naturally, Hormoz Island doesn't have drinking water, so Iranian engineers decided to use underground piped water from the main Land of Iran. As Hormoz Island is one of the potential attractives of Iran,it could be one of the main and tourism pole of south Iran.
