[edit] Myrtle Ave

So add stuff to the article! How's a street ever notable, unless it's Broadway? There's a hundred demented articles for city streets: 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd, 57th, 86th - what's the point? - CrazyRussian talk/email 19:57, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Nah, we'll let it play out. I am working on a standard for street inclusion... - CrazyRussian talk/email 20:35, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Saw your message and added my own KEEP. One thing though...these fools have a cult following all over the US not to mention NYC!! For damn sure. Messwemade 17:21, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Zander Vaubel

Hi Jeremy. Regarding the placement of the {{notability}} tag on the article Zander Vaubel, I understand that the information is verifiable (as you have listed multiple references), but what is it that makes this individual notable? If you can convince me that the criteria for WP:BIO are met, then I will remove the tag. Thanks~ —Brim 03:33, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

What's you should realize here is that the scope and purpose of Wikipedia is that of a general encylopedia. Encyclopedias are full of knowledge, knowledge that people think is worth knowing about. However, encyclopedias aren't about everything. If they were about everything, then they would be full of junk, and one of the important tasks in editing such a large encyclopedia is to filter out the junk. I'm not saying that Zander Vaubel is junk. Zander Vaubel may be important to you, his friends, his family, and he may have even gotten mentioned in a newspaper, but that in itself doesn't mean the world needs this information in an encyclopedia. I applaud your taking a stand on this issue you feel strongly about, but picking apart loopholes in what's a policy and what's a guideline isn't a good use of time. —Brim 05:01, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Re: your comments on my talk page, if you feel so passionately about the subject, then you may wish to try writing a new article about him from scratch. Be sure to write it so his contributions stand out. What makes him so notable? Before, the article made it sound like some schmuck fell from a roof -- Big deal. Make him sound like a big deal! Best of luck. —Brim 01:22, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

[edit] Nice work on Joe's Shanghai AfD!!

I'm glad you cited multiple sources. I didn't have time to find them myself. I hoping I could get your input on these AfDs as well Chicken and Rice and Hallo Berlin. Thanks :)Valoem talk 18:18, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Shanghai Joe AFD

Hi Howrealisreal. I just closed the AFD based on the consensus, and with policy in mind. I saw the references you provided, and they weren't particularly good ones. The NY Times ones were provided by Zagalejo; these were restaurant reviews. These are evidence the place exists, not evidence of notability. Not enough for WP:CORP, let alone WP:NOT. The citysearch references were reader-submitted reviews (even more unreliable). Those do NOT constitute reliable sources. Therefore, the keep votes based on this were on shaky ground. Of the other keep votes, Oakshade failed to state any valid reason for keeping, and Valoem's stated his reason for keeping was that it won an award in the NY Times, which is either untrue or unverifiable, as no verification could be found. Note all this is purely based on the AFD discussion - it's not my job as the closer to verify or strike out these claims. I'll repost this at DRV if required. Just a note on your addition to the Bill Slavick AFD. Maine United States Senate election, 2006 already exists, so there is no need to create an article. --Bobblehead 02:08, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
