The Carnations are an indie band from London, England. Having written a successful album, The Carnations have also played many gigs around the country. They are in fact so officially indie they don't actually exist.. Howard only ever shows up on the indie radar after he's dyed his hair, Dave continues to ride off the success of a particular American namesake, Ed hasn't officialy shown interest in anything since 1984 and Nick continues his paid job as Pete Astor's butler.. the band has never won any Grammy nor would they wish to.. The band are known for their revolutionary marriage of independent stylings and jaunty melodies and for being the most self-righteous art wave explosion since Bronski Beat connected their synths to the dishwasher back in '84..
The Carnations formed in 2004. No-one really told them they were any good but then equally no-one ever told them to stop either.. Early material was influenced by alternative rock and "indie" Britpop of the 1990s, including the likes of Wedding Present, Oasis and Supergrass while also earning comparisons to Snow Patrol and Doves Since their debut album No Great Words Of Wisdom (2006), The Carnations have been working on their second album tentatively titled We're Better Than The Beatles
