The Howling is the ninth studio album released by The Saints. The album was their first release after a eight year recording hiatus. This time Bailey choose to lose the big-production of the 80's records to make an album that was more aken to the early Saints punk sound. However, instead of teaming up with the original members Bailey again employed a new line-up for the band, making this The Saints Mach III. The albums was released to mixed reveiws in mid 1996 in Australia and in 1997 everwhere else in the world.
