Howard (Howie) John Edward Young (August 2, 1937 – November 24, 1999) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and actor.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, he played defence for 336 games for the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, and Vancouver Canucks. In the 1962-63 NHL season, he had the most penalty minutes at 273.
A career which lasted from 1954 to 1986, he also played for the Flint Spirits, New York Slapshots, Los Angeles Blades, Phoenix Roadrunners, Oklahoma City Blazers, Winnipeg Jets, Rochester Americans, Fort Worth Wings, Edmonton Flyers, Hershey Bears, New Westminster Royals, Chicoutimi Sagueneens, Hamilton Tiger Cubs, and the Kitchener Canucks.
He had a minor role in the 1965 Frank Sinatra film, None But The Brave. As well in the 1997 television film, Last Stand at Saber River starring Tom Selleck.
