Hovgaard Island

Hovgaard Island ( ) is an island 3 miles (4.8 km) long, lying 1.5 miles (2.4 km) southwest of Booth Island in the Wilhelm Archipelago. It was discovered and named "Krogmann Island" by a German expedition under Dallmann, 1873-74, but the name Hovgaard, applied by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition, 1897-99, under Gerlache, has overtaken the original name in usage. The name Krogmann Point has been given to the west extremity of Hovgaard Island.
