what connection does ancient rome has to "alternate history" ?

The category was inapproriate and I removed it. As Harry Turtledove is best known as an alternate history writer, perhaps an editor categorized all his books. WBardwin 04:16, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

I'm not really sure if it's science fiction either. I don't think there's much science in it, doesn't have aliens or deal with the future, and the main character's trip thru time is due to deistic influence rather than science. -Baiter
