[edit] About the Oath of Fëanor
Mirlen reverted my change in the "House of Fëanor" section (Oath --> Oath of Fëanor) because he thought it was redundant. It is not, because it's a link, the article text is unchanged. If the reader clicks on the link, it's because he/she want to know more about the Oath of Fëanor (its text, its importance and consequences, etc...), not an oath's definition, so the link should point to the specific article. I will change it back, please discuss before reverting Mindeye 02:28, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
- I guess you could argue it that way in how it could be misleading. But Wikipedia's policies state that everyday words should generally not be wikilinked to, so I think readers would know (after seeing a pattern in the articles) that it is not just any oath we're referring to, but the Oath of Fëanor. (By the way, I'm a female.) —Mirlen 02:33, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Family tree
I'm just moving the family tree Irongargoyle has posted in Maedhros's article, but I do have a comment. Wouldn't it perhaps be better if we merged the family trees (House of Fëanor, House of Fingolfin, and House of Finarfin) as one (when whether using ASCII or regular is decided) — after all, all three houses are merged under the article, House of Finwë? —Mirlen 02:33, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Just quickly...
The last paragraph in the House of Feanor section has to be in error. The settling of the feud between the house of Feanor and Fingolfin can't possibly have taken place until after Fingolfin reached Middle-Earth. Since the Moon (followed six hours later by the Sun) rises for the first time as Fingolfin reaches Middle-Earth (and after the destruction of the Trees), the statement, "After the feud between the House of Fëanor and the Houses of Fingolfin and Finarfin was repaired, the sons of Fëanor ruled lands in East Beleriand during the Years of the Trees," has to be in error. Years of the Sun must be meant. The dates given in Y.T. in this section everywhere conflict with the specific dating everywhere else. For instance, the link to Feanor says that he was born in Y.T. 4679, but this article says he died in Y.T. 1497. The article also suggests almost fifty years elapse between the desctruction of the Trees and rape of the Silmarils and Feanor's death. The Silmarillion seems to suggest weeks at most. The Silmarils were also created before Feanor was banished and stolen by Morgoth only years later, yet this article states that the Silmarils were created in Y.T. 1449-1450 and stolen by Morgoth in Y.T. 1449 (I guess they were stolen mid-creation?). There are more errors in this article, but this should get the ball rolling...
