[edit] Plot summary

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Taking place shortly after the original, government operatives are sent to investigate a new infection that has rapidly spread across fictional "Cuesta Verde University". Professor Dr. Curien (Sid Haig), obsessed with the idea of bringing the dead back to life, has accidentally created a new generation of "hypersapiens", or zombies. The operatives must bring back a first-generation blood sample from a zombie in order to create a vaccine against the virus, which is spread through biting. However, tensions between AMS and special forces, stemming from the apparent inexperience of the latter, create conflict within the team. The divided parties now face an army of highly evolved zombies that can easily chew through their body armor. Eventually the operatives discover that the original hypersapien is Alicia, from the first House of the Dead film. The Operatives are unsuccessful in their 2 attempts to secure a sample. The last two remaining members sent to get the sample returns to the city where the chief was bitten to find it in ruin, possibly overrun by zombies.

[edit] Trivia

  • The movie is based on the video game series of the same name much more so than the previous film. Both feature some kind of medical facility overrun by zombies, and AMS agents are dispatched to contain it. This movie also shows the 4th game as the AMS agents struggle to break free from the zombies.
  • Ellie Cornell returned as Colonel Jordan Casper even though, in House of the Dead, her character bled to death after losing both of her legs. Casper was inserted during a script rewrite.[1]
  • The name of the college is Cuesta Verde. In Spanish the term "cuesta verde" literally translates to "costs green." This could be used to say that the college costs a lot of money, or 'green.'
  • As of 6/15/06, a House Of The Dead 3 was announced. Filming is supposed to begin later in the year. It may not even be called "House Of The Dead" as said by its makers.
  • In this film, AMS agents are dressed up as rogue commandos, and just like in House of the Dead III, some of them are killed or turned into zombies.
  • In perhaps what may be a nod to The Walking Dead, one of the characters covers himself in zombie remains in order to fool the zombies' sense of smell.
  • Both AMS commandos survive in the ending of the movie, not in the game. The survivors are Ellis and Alex (female rogue commando/AMS commando).
  • The First-Generation zombie in House of the Dead II is determined to be that of Alicia, from the 1st House of the Dead film.
  • One of the soldiers in The beginning of the film is played by Power Rangers Time Force Quantum Ranger "Daniel Southworth".
  • Like in other zombie horror movies such as Resident Evil which shows zombies were formed by an infected virus.
