[edit] Overview

The story revolves a house party being thrown by Play. He invites Kid, who has been grounded by his father (Robin Harris) and has to find a way to sneak out of the house and attend the party.

The film was a popular success, and two sequels were made.: House Party 2 (1991) the next year; and House Party 3 in 1994. House Party 2 features Lawrence and Campbell reprising their roles from the first film; the two would begin co-starring in the TV sitcom Martin the following year. House Party 3 features hip hop/R&B groups TLC and Immature in supporting roles. In 2001, Immature (now going by IMx) starred in a direct-to-video sequel, House Party 4: Down to the Last Minute, which does not feature Kid or Play. The first two films are considered to be the best of the series by most.

[edit] Trivia

  • In the movie there is a character named 'Herman' he can be seen napping in most of his scenes. When Stab flings Kid on to the lunchtable other students pull him out of the way. He can also be seen asleep at the party.
  • When Play and Bilal drop Kid off at his house, he asks him if he wants to watch Krush Groove and Beat Street. Those are classic hip-hop films that were made in the 1980's.
  • A mash up of the famous dance scene was remixed on popular site Youtube [1]
