Hotel Paper is a 2003 album and the third solo release by American singer Michelle Branch.

Some of the major themes on Hotel Paper are leaving things behind, constantly being on the move, independence, the mysteries of bus stations and spirituality.[4] The album's cover, photographed by Sheryl Nields, shows the face of a young woman (Branch) as she, it would seem, takes one last look at the person or place she is leaving behind. The back cover presents her back towards us, as she begins to walk away.

"Hotel Paper" debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 on July 1, 2003, selling 157,846 copies in its first week [5]. In the second week, the record sold 81,197 copies [6], for a two-week total of 239,043 copies. By September 2003, Hotel Paper had sold 554,000 copies in the U.S. [7] It left the chart on March 2, 2004 (spending thirty-three weeks on it altogether) with nearly one million copies sold, and became Branch's second platinum album.[8]

"Are You Happy Now?" was the album's first single. The song took on a notably darker sound than Branch's previous singles "Everywhere" and "All You Wanted" (from her 2001 album The Spirit Room), but it still managed to make the top twenty on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
