The 'Earth Team' arrives on Alwas, site of the preliminaries and discovers that Eva, who calls herself 'Molly', has followed them. With no time to argue, the team competes in their first race, but disaster strikes when their star-racer crashes at the finish line. With their star pilot, Rick, out of commission and no replacements, is the Great Race already over for them...

[edit] Plot

The Earth team has made it to Alwas, one of the planets where they go to compete in the qualifying races. When they land, Don notices that there is a stowaway; Molly. They meet Satis, their guide and faithful servant of the Avatar. He leads them to their pit area, where the team lives during the race. During the test flight of the Arrow, they discover a fuel leak, and Molly says she noticed a place where they could get some. While Molly is leaving, Rick comments that Don had a secret second pilot. Don flatly denies it, saying "You know how I feel about Female pilots." When Molly returns with the fuel, the doors to the pit area are closed, and she goes off looking for them. She discovers that they went to the opening ceremonies, where she meets prince Aikka, whom she instantly gets a crush on. During the ceremony, the Avatar arrives and says that "There is only one rule; you can use whatever means to achieve victory, as long as you don't take the life of your opponent," then wishes the racers luck and leaves. The first race is with Ortlum and Norasea. Prince Aikka, a Norasean, ends up winning, much to Jordan's consternation and Molly's joy. Later, Rick races Grooor, and is doing pretty well when there arises a problem in the cooling system. When he crashes, Molly is reminded of a race in her childhood where she, with Don Wei, are watching a race and she comments, "Yes, I see her! She's winning!" before the racer crashes and explodes.
