Template talk:Horrormovie Icons

[edit] What the....?

Curious as to why you copied my template, proceded to replace it on every page it was on, and then disgraced what it stood for. You have done nothing by name any character you can think of. More than half your list contains people that either are not icons or aren't even of the horror genre. There was nothing wrong with the original template, as it actually has several individuals trying to decide what exactly constitutes an "icon" instead of just listing every known horror figure. Sorry but your template was crap, and it was a given with all the complaints and other comments on the discussion page which disgareed with you. My template is basically an updated version with the correct icons of horror cinema unlike yours which disregarded true icons recognised worldwide, I mean Jigsaw? How is he more of an icon than Jack Torrance? The Shining is a much more world recognised film than SAW, get your facts straight mate. Piecraft 21:19, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Maybe you should actually go read what the definition of a Pop culture Icon actually is, then you can come talk to us. BTW, your template has been nominated for deletion on the basis that you LITERALLY stole my template and then added everyone of YOUR PREFERENCE just to bypass a protection that I placed on the ORIGINAL template until WE could decide some ground rules for what an ICON actually IS. OH, and for one to talk about getting ones facts straight, as you so eloquently stated... King Kong, Godzilla, and Quasimodo are not "HORROR ICONS". Heck the first two are SCIENCE FICTION. Also, The Toxic Avenger isn't even true horror, it's a parody, the film doesn't even take itself seriously. You are simply adding anyone you can think of. And your "civil" tone that you are taking on both of these templates, and the nice personal attacks will be noted in the deletion process. Bignole 21:31, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
You lot either have no clue about horror cinema or you're just playing dumb. YOUR template is irrelevant as it is not justifying the icons of horror rather than placing "particular" icons that YOU sir feel are relevant. On MY template which yes I took the design from YOURS (shock horror), I never denied this - on MY template you will find all the TRUE icons of HORROR films which are acknowledged worldwide in the horror community. Your "pop culture" argument defeats the purpose for this template, as it is not a horror pop culture icon, it is icons of horror that represent famous and recognised characters in well known horror franchises or films that are clearly represented and appreciated on a world wide scale. Get your facts straight, before you begin to try to argue with me about what is a horror icon and what isn't. Any horror afficionado or theorist will clearly state that the aforementioned characters I listed on MY template are correctly placed according to their status as "icons" represented in the genre of horror. Don't believe me? Check out on the internet yourself, do a search for horror icons on google and see what you get Mr. Genius. Piecraft 22:07, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Why don't you just do a definition search of "popular culture icons" and see what that tells you. Anyone can say "this is an icon" and no one be the wiser, that doesn't make them right. As you so nicely put it, it's all "opinion". You have Godzilla and King Kong listed, when they actually fall under Science Fiction. What part of "not the same genre" isn't going through? Then you are listing the girl from the ring, how is she iconic? If you haven't already gone to the "templates for deletion page" (which you can find by going to FF7's contributions and clicking the link) there are already 6 votes for deletion of this template, and none to keep it. We are trying to create a template that actually consists of characters that are justifiably "iconic" and not just a template that lists any horror character that one could think of. There is nothing iconic about Spaulding. Bignole 23:34, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Figured I'd help you out in finding it.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/2006_November_6 Bignole 23:34, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
