Horodenka

Horodenka (Ukrainian: Городенка) is a city located in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, in western Ukraine. It is the administrative center of the Horodenkivsky Raion (district), and is located at around .
The current estimated population is around 9,800 (as of 2001).

During World War 2 The Jewish population Horadenka comprising about half of the towns population were shot and killed in a mass grave by the Nazis. About a dozen Jews survived and formed a partisan combat unit which fought against the Nazis and the local Pro-Nazi Ukrainian bands and hid in the forests.
