Horace Wilson (professor)

Horace Wilson (February 10, 1843March 4, 1927) was an American professor of English at Tokyo University (then named Kaisei Gakko) during the modernization of Japan after the Meiji Restoration.

Born in Gorham, Maine, his most well-known accomplishment was bringing baseball to Japan; the date is variously given as 1872 or 1873. He was elected to membership in the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame by the special committee in 2003 (interim new century category).
