Horace Brearley

Horace Brearley (born Heckmondwike, Yorkshire 26 June 1913) is a retired English cricketer and schoolmaster.

Brearley represented Yorkshire as a right-handed batsman in 1937 and Middlesex in 1949. He also played for Yorkshire Men's Hockey team whilst in Sheffield.

He taught at King Edward VII School in Sheffield from 1937 to 1946, and subsequently at the City of London School. His son Mike Brearley captained Middlesex and England at cricket. He is currently residing in a nursing home, due to Alzheimer's disease.
