Hope Is Important released 1998 (see 1998 in music) is the first full-length album by Scottish band Idlewild, following on from their earlier six-track release Captain.
From it, the singles 'A Film For The Future' (charting at No.53), 'Everyone Says You're So Fragile' (47), 'I'm A Message' (41) and 'When I Argue I See Shapes' (19) were all released, their success encouraging album sales and helping to establish Idlewild as a key part of the post-Britpop British indie scene.
