My username, Hong Qi Gong is the pinyin spelling of 〈洪七公〉. That's the name of a character in the wuxia novel 《射鵰英雄傳》, or "The Legend of the Condor Heroes", written by famous novelist Jinyong. Also called 北丐 (Northern Beggar) and 九指神丐 (Nine-Fingered Beggar Master), Hong Qi Gong is the leader of the Beggar Clan and is one of the five most powerful wushu masters in the novel, known for his signature disciplines the "18 Dragon Subduing Palms" and "36 Dog Beating Stick".

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar |
HongQiGong, I award you this here RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar in recognition and appreciation of your tireless efforts to defend Japanese history articles from those who would deny Korean influence and involvement, and for your extensive work on East Asian topics in other respects. It is truly a never-ending task and a more or less thankless job. Thank you. LordAmeth 19:50, 27 September 2006 (UTC) |

WikiProject Japan Barnsensu Award |
I award you this Barnsensu in recognition of your tireless efforts to bring balance to Japan and other Japan-related articles-- a very meaningful, but thankless and never-ending task. Although we may not always agree, I admire your tremendous persistence and appreciate your presence at Wikipedia. No matter what some may say, you are a positive force here. Don't forget that. And don't give up. Don't compromise. Just because you are outnumbered, doesn't mean you are defeated. Truth is on your side.--Sir Edgar 00:50, 13 February 2007 (UTC) |

[edit] Good Article contributions
Good articles that I've made significant contributions to.
This is a list of articles I would like to edit or create. If you are interested in any of these topics, please go ahead and edit or create the articles. This list is mostly a reminder for myself.
[edit] Editing Needed
- Asian American - This article is a mess, in my opinion. The section "The term Asian American" is unnecessarily wordy, and many of the other sections need more meat in them.
- Chink - Article needs an etymology. There's probably enough content for a short article, not enough to make it as big as "nigger", but probably enough to make it as big as "spic" or "wetback".
- Hong Kong returnee - This was the first article I created here. It needs expansion.
- Model minority - I have a feeling this article needs lots of editing. It is fairly long, but I noticed it didn't even cover the fact that Asian Americans are held to higher standards as a result of this. Also, a large portion of it seems to be more of a justification of the myth rather than how it is used by politicians to justify cutting government aid towards blacks and Latinos.
- New immigrants in Hong Kong - Article needs expansion and sources.
- Overseas Chinese - This article needs some general clean-up. Some of the sections need to be expanded. A few pictures would be nice also. I think importantly, there's a table showing the size of the Overseas Chinese populations around the world, and most of those numbers are unsourced.
- Vietnamese people in Hong Kong - Somebody has translated the article from the Chinese version. But the article as of now is mainly information on the circumstances of their migration, and there's no information on the characteristics or demographics of the Vietnamese people in Hong Kong themselves.
- Xu Fu - I've created the article, but it's basically a stub right now. It needs expansion.
[edit] To Create
- Chinese American history - It's rather ambitious to want to create this article. People have written books on the topic. But the topic is deserving of an article nonetheless.
- Classical Gardens of Suzhou - Currently redirects to Suzhou, but really deserves its own article.
- Gexingqiao - Neolithic site discovered in Guangxi in 2003. [4]
- Hong Kong Environmental Protection Association - HKEPA - [5].
- Ethnoburb - I think this term is mainly used in the U.S., but it refers to the ethnic enclaves that are appearing in suburban U.S., a move away from how ethnic enclaves are usually in urban areas.
- Fu Xing, Lu Xing, Shou Xing - The three individual gods of Fu Lu Shou.
- Gajasimha - A gajasimha is a mythical creature with an elephant head and a lion's body in Indian/Buddhist culture. There doesn't seem to be a lot of English sources for this topic though.
- Global Alliance for Preserving the History of WW II in Asia - Organisation for preserving the truth of what happened in Asia during WW2[6].
- Jamia Mosque (Hong Kong) - Historic mosque in Mid-Levels that runs along side the outdoor esculator. Now in danger of redevelopment.[7]
- Liu Hai - A Daoist immortal with a three-legged toad for a pet.[8]
- Project Civil Referendum - A project led by Cyd Ho to hold an unofficial referendum on electing HK's chief executive. [9]
- Sino-Pakistani relations - Yet another subject for which it's hard to believe no article exists.
- United Filipinos in Hong Kong - Not sure if this group deserves an article, but I found it while reading about foreign domestic helpers in Hong Kong.[10]
