Hong Kong City Mall

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hong Kong City Mall is an enormous Chinese strip mall based in Alief, Houston, Texas at the southwest intersection of Bellaire Boulevard and Boone Road. It is considered one of the most famous Chinatown tourist attractions in the nation with more than 50,000 tourists each year. The head store is Hong Kong Food Market followed by little chains of stores varying from gift shops to restaurants to tapioca shops. The food court is the largest Asian court currently in the country pushing the Ginseng Plaza in Chinatown, Los Angeles, CA down to second place. It includes different variety of fast food shops with a mini arcade. Connected to the west wing of the mall is Ocean Palace, Houston's largest dim sum restaurant to date.

While the name implies Hong Kong or Chinese mall, it is not so. People expecting a mini Hong Kong or Chinatown style setting will be somewhat surprised with the mostly Vietnamese signs and businesses. Many Houstonians actually refer to this mall as Saigon City Mall as it is more befitting.
