Honaker is a town in Russell County, Virginia, United States. The population was 945 at the 2000 census.

The town is currently undergoing a restoration project in order to make a town welcome center. This project is expected to be completed be early 2007.

Honaker is located at GR1.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 945 people, 392 households, and 270 families residing in the town. The population density was 663.4/km² (1,729.0/mi²). There were 445 housing units at an average density of 312.4/km² (814.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.52% White, 0.32% African American, 0.42% Native American, 0.53% from other races, and 0.21% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.06% of the population.
There were 392 households out of which 30.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% were married couples living together, 14.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.9% were non-families. 29.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 2.98.
In the town the population was spread out with 23.0% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 26.6% from 45 to 64, and 13.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 82.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 72.9 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $22,969, and the median income for a family was $28,611. Males had a median income of $26,071 versus $17,386 for females. The per capita income for the town was $11,888. About 20.4% of families and 27.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 41.9% of those under age 18 and 17.2% of those age 65 or over.

Current Pittsburgh Steelers Tight End Heath Miller attended school at Honaker High School.
Honaker High School 2000 graduate Emerald Robinson has appeared in Bollywood film with Indian film stars Saif Ali Kahn and Ajay Devjen as well as in Raise the Bar Production's "A Dance for Bethany" in the U.S.
Coach Alex Zachwieja and the Honaker Academic Team have made it to the VHSL State Scholastic Bowl Tournament in Williamsburg, VA a total of 6 times, winning the 2006-07 Regular Season, District, and Regional Tournament.
