Homo scientia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Homo scientia (Latin for "Man the scientist" or "Man the knowledgeable") is an alternative classification to Homo sapiens. The term began as an original competitor to the more popular biological classification for human used today, but fell out of favor due to political pressure vis-a-vis overt use of the term "science".[1] Recently, the term has received a revival from anthropologists and cultural evolution scholars for the critical delineation of socially inherited knowledge, including language and social artifacts.
