Homeward Looking Angel was a #23 album on the Billboard charts. Four singles from it charted in the Top Twenty: "Shake the Sugar Tree" at #3, "Let That Pony Run" at #4, "Cleopatra, Queen of Denial" at #11, and "Do You Know Where Your Man Is" at #16. Its title is an allusion to Thomas Wolfe's Look Homeward, Angel.
