Home town hero (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Home Town Hero was a post-grunge rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California in 2000. Lead singer Aaron Bruno and guitarist Drew Stewart were teenage pals during the '90s at Southern California's Westlake High School when they first collaborated together. Todd Burnes (bassist) and Ray Blanco (drums) were added to the duo later on. The original title for the band was Ice Monkeys, but it was later changed to Insurgence and then finally Home Town Hero. After performing various dates at the 2000 and 2001 Warped Tours, Maverick Records signed the group to a record contract.

Their 2002 eponymous debut CD Home Town Hero featured the hit single "Questions", which helped garner attention for the band on mainstream radio stations. The group also shot a video for the song "Run Right Through." They toured that same year with popular rock band Stone Temple Pilots in the United States. Burnes and Blanco left the band prior to the recording of the group's second album. Bruno and Stewart completed the album, entitled Bitch City, and decided, once they parted ways with Maverick Records, to change their name to Under the Influence of Giants due to the drastic departure of the new songs from the sound of Home Town Hero. Bitch City was never commercially released, but was posted in its entirety for free download on Under the Influence of Giants' official website for a short time. Eventually, Jamin Wilcox (drums) and David Amezcua (bass) were added to the band's lineup to solidify Under the Influence of Giants, who have since signed to Island Records and released their self-titled debut LP, featuring the hit single "Mama's Room."
