Home Alone 4:Taking Back the House is a TV movie that premiered on ABC in early 2002 and is a sequel to the first three movies, starring Mike Weinberg as Kevin McCallister, the protagonist of the first two films in the series. French Stewart plays Marv Merchants, who was one of the Wet Bandits from the first two films. The film was directed by Rod Daniel and released on October 20, 2003 on DVD as Home Alone: Taking Back the House.

The film centers on the misadventures of Kevin once again, who goes to live in his dad's girlfriend's mansion when his parents split up (though they get back together at the end of the film). During Christmas, he fends off two criminals (one of them is his old nemesis, Marv Merchant. For an unknown reason, the character on screen, despite being listed and introduced as 'Marv' is actually dressed and acted identically to 'Harry' from the first two films.) who break into the mansion--as well as a kindly servant who turns out to be the mother of Marv, thus making the robbery an inside job. Marv and Vera's mission is to kidnap the prince. They fail because the police are called after all three robbers are knocked out.

- Due to the fact that Mike Weinburg resembles Alex Pruitt more than Kevin McCallister, many fans of the series believed, prior to watching the movie, that it would feature Alex Pruitt.
- This film is considered to be the worst of the series by fans.
[edit] Timeline inaccuracy
Although Kevin was supposed to be age 9 in the early '90s in this movie (instead of age 10 as he was in Home Alone 2), the movie referenced culture and technology from the late '90s.
A PlayStation game console (released in September of 1995) is featured in the movie. While Kevin burns a CD to playback Marv's voice at Vera, he should have used an audio cassette since burnable CDs weren't released to the consumer market until the late '90s. Also, a mid-to-late '90s Dodge Caravan or Plymouth Voyager was depicted instead of one from the early '90s.
