Holy Spirit Elementary School is a Catholic School within the Archdiocese of Louisville.
Holy Spirit school is located on the corner of Lexington road and Cannons lane in the heart of St. Matthews. A private, Catholic community is a perfect place to send your children from grades K-8. Known for its stellar academics and beautiful grounds, it is no wonder that this private school attracts some of Louisville's most prominent families. Another focal point of this school would be its church, which boast victorian style pillars in the front and breathtaking stonework on the inside. Marble floors and oak benches create one of the best places to bring your family on Sunday. Aside from the academic and religious parts of the school. The atheletic teams are a great place for your kids to strive outside of the classroom. Thier recently independant football team is now a city favorite for the local championship known as the Toy Bowl. Soccer teams have been a city powerhouse since the mid ninetys, attracting youthful talent from the club teams in the surrounding area. But probably one of them most impressive athletic feats that has ever been accomplished by this school was the cinderella run of the '97 boys A team in the city champoinship. Underdogs from the beggining, they managed to fight their way to the city finals, where they were narrowly defeated by some small school that relives thier victory daily. The highlight of the game was the heart that was shown by the leader of the team Brian Bick, who single handedly dominated the entire squad with 20 points in the final game, not to mention the way he made it literally rain in the gym. If there was ever anything to remember in CSAA history, it would be the spectacular performance laid down by a remarkable athelete.
