[edit] Formation of the band

Originally, Kyle Cook and Ryan Johnson played guitar, Alex Jennings played bass guitar, Dan Rivera handled the drums, and David Costill was the vocalist for the emo band I Hope.. After they released one EP, the band split up. Ryan, Kyle, and David started a new band, named Holiday, with their good friend Chris Reed playing bass and Lou on drums. This lineup recorded the 5 track EP, Like Daggers in 2004. A few months later, Kevin Smith took over on drums. With this new drummer in place, the band returned to the studio to record the follow up to 2004's Like Daggers, Content. This EP saw a drastic change in musical styling, drifting from their former screamo sound. Using a less obscure style of music, the band quickly gained more fans. Deciding to go different directions vocally, David left the band. The band then became a 4-piece with Kyle and Ryan taking over the vocals and continuing to play guitar. Soon after, the addition of a new vocalist, Steve Perrong, made the band complete once again. Once again as a 5 piece, the band played many shows throughout the Tri-state area, including West Chester, PA; Staten Island, NY; and various venues in the Southern New Jersey region. In the summer of 2005, the band played in Staten Island, NY with newly signed Capitol Records artist, Kevin Devine. After Kevin left for school, Lou was once again added to the line-up for the final show. The bands last show was on September 19, 2005, at the Drexel Newman Center. The line-up for this show was The Fall of Troy (EVR), Chiodos (EVR), Transistor Transistor (Level Plane), and Shark Shark. This show had one of the largest crowds Holiday had played infront of and they were welcome with praise from fans and members of the other bands as well. Following this show, the band played one final show in bassist Chris Reed's basement. This show was open to friends, family and close supporters who were there with the band for over 2 years. Playing their entire discography and being accompanied by Lou, Kevin, Dave and Steve on зtheir respective songs, the show was a great success. October 15, 2005 was the official end of Holiday. After disbanding, the band had released 5 demos under the new monicker, The Winter. The demo was entitled Play the Piano Until Fingers Begin to Bleed. These songs were comprised of 10 demos that were recorded in the summer of 2005 by Timmy Passarello in Kevin's garage. Vocal work was lended by Dave and Ryan. These demos can be found on The Winter's Purevolume [1] page. After over 2 years of music, the 5 friends decided to go their separate ways musically. It is unknown what projects they are currently connected to, but it is said that each has moved into a different style of playing.

[edit] Influences

The band has been influenced by many things, but cites Neil Perry, Fear Before the March of Flames, The Now, Saetia, Hot Cross, and Every Time I Die as particularly large influences on them.
