Located in the Central Sierra Nevada mtns. the hogback mtns. or Hogback range sits adjacent to the Bear mtns. Pivotal to the tower positioning of modern day fiber optic links. The range provides optimal positioning for geographical (see U.S. Geological Survey coordinates) locale in the (many) Sierras throughout the world. Although only foothills in their geographical classificaton the hogback range is an absolutely wonderful place to hike and basecamp for speluncking expeditions in nearby California caverns (located in Mountain Ranch, California). Adjunct to the Sierra Nevadas (snowy range) in the calaveras (rio de sangre) creek watershed, not to be confused with the mighty Zambezi (Afrika), it creates a rainshadow and optimal mushroom hunting habitat in nearby Calaveras county (see Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce).
