Hodges Figgis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hodges Figgis is a bookshop located on Dawson Street, Dublin, Republic of Ireland. It was founded in the 19th century and is mentioned in passing in James Joyce's novel Ulysses. (The shop has moved at least three times in the last 100 years, and the premises mentioned in Ulysses are now occupied by Waterstones, almost directly opposite the present location.)
The store briefly housed a coffee shop on the first floor, but this was removed in 2002 during renovations to allow expansion of the space used for the shelving of stock. It is one of the largest bookshops in Dublin.[citation needed] Both stores are now part of the HMV group of companies.
Hodges Figgis also operate the student bookshop in Dublin City University.
