Hodgdon is a town in Aroostook County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,240 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 103.1 km² (39.8 mi²). 102.8 km² (39.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.2 mi²) of it (0.38%) is water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 1,240 people, 462 households, and 359 families residing in the town. The population density was 12.1/km² (31.3/mi²). There were 489 housing units at an average density of 4.8/km² (12.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.26% White, 0.48% African American, 1.21% Native American, and 1.05% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.81% of the population.
There were 462 households out of which 34.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.2% were married couples living together, 7.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.1% were non-families. 18.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.04.
In the town the population was spread out with 26.6% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 27.0% from 45 to 64, and 12.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 100.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.1 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $30,188, and the median income for a family was $36,607. Males had a median income of $28,600 versus $19,688 for females. The per capita income for the town was $14,573. About 15.6% of families and 17.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 20.2% of those under age 18 and 26.9% of those age 65 or over.
