[edit] 80 vessels in three tours

...sinking over 80 vessels of all sizes in three tours of the Sea of Marmara.

This can't be, since an E-class submarine carries only 18 torpedoes and E11 most certainly didn't risk surface battles with her guns in Turkey's backyard or placed naval mines there. Also the article lacks any references. - Alureiter 16:50, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
27 steamers + 58 smaller vessels + 1 antiquated battleship = 86 which by my calculations is "over 80". Figures from Dictionary of the First World War (Pope & Wheal). That said, Moorehead's Gallipoli says "Naismith's bag alone was 101". He also says total Turkish losses from the submarine campaign was 211 of which 148 (70%) were "sailing boats", on which I doubt you would waste a torpedo. Naismith's sinking of the Nagara was done on the surface, and that was a transport. Also, to be "driven away from the shore by some Turkish cavalry" suggests he was on the surface there too. 58.163.138.241 10:30, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

The success of the British submarines the sea of Marmara is a legend of the British WW1 propaganda. E11 sunk in 1915 1 old Battleship, an very old gunboat,an modern torpedoboat, 2 naval tugs a small number of 20 -50tons sailing craft and 9 ships which you can realy called `staemer`with 9188gt. When the British start to used turkish and german archives? Details of the operations of british boats in Turkish waters see: The Ottoman Steamnavy ( english / turkish ) and Halbmond und Kaiseradler (german).
