HMS Renown

HMS Renown is a ship name used by the Royal Navy.
There have been several ships named HMS Renown:
- HMS Renown (1747) was a 30 gun 5th Rate French ship, Renommée, captured in 1747 and renamed Renown.
- HMS Renown (1774) was a 50 gun ship broken up in 1794.
- HMS Renown (1798) was a 74 gun ship of the line.
- HMS Renown (1895) was the only battleship of its class. It served as Sir John Fisher's flagship on the North American station until being converted to a royal yacht in 1905. After many years in reserve, it was sold for scrap in April 1914.
- HMS Renown (1916) was a Renown-class battlecruiser that served in both WW I and World War II.
- The most recent was HMS Renown (S26) which was a Resolution-class submarine.
- HMS, sometimes used with punctuation periods, H.M.S.. These are, respectively,
an acronym, or an abbreviation for, His Majesty's Ship, or Her Majesty's Ship.
