HMS Pomone was a 38-gun, fifth-rate frigate of the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic wars and the War of 1812. Pomone was part of the squadron that captured the USS President in 1815.
Pomone was originally a French frigate named Astrée taken during the capture of Mauritius on 6 December 1810. She was renamed Pomone on 26 October 1811,[1] the previous HMS Pomone having been wrecked earlier in the month.[2]
After service in the North Sea and the waters around France, Pomone was sent to the east coast of the United States. With HMS Cydnus she captured the American privateer Bunker's Hill on 4 March 1814.
She was paid off at Chatham in 1815 and broken up in June of the following year.[1]
