HMS Pegasus was a 28 gun frigate launched in 1786, commanded for its first two years of service by Prince William Henry (who later would ascend to the throne and become King William IV). Pegasus was largely assigned to patrol the east coast of Canada and Newfoundland, as well as the West Indies.
