HMS Lawford

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HMS Lawford was an Royal Navy converted frigate HQ Ship off Juno Beach that was hit by enemy fire and sunk during the invasion of France on 8 June 1944. Thirty-seven of her crew died. The Navy's explanation that the ship was downed by a guided bomb had never been fully accepted and a later expedition found proof that the explosion came from inside the ship. This means it was a guided missile, that enters the ships and then detonates, that sank the HMS Lawford.
