HMS Captain

At least six ships of the Royal Navy have been called HMS Captain.
- Captain (c. 1678) - 70 guns.
- Captain (1743) - 70 guns. BU 1783
- Captain (1787) - 74-gun third-rate ship of the line. She was Captain Horatio Nelson's ship at the Battle of Cape St Vincent (14 February 1797).
- Captain (1869) - Masted turret ship of controversial design which sank in a gale in the Bay of Biscay, 7 September 1870, a few months after commissioning.
