HMS Bee

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Four vessels of the Royal Navy have been named HMS Bee:

  • The first Bee was built in Nottawasaga and ferried goods and men between this depot and Penetanguishene with occasional trips to the Northwest. This HMS Bee was one of the original supply schooners (Bee, Mosquito, and Wasp) that were stationed at the Penetanguishene Naval Establishment from 1817 to 1831.
  • The second Bee, launched in 1842, was a combination screw/paddle vessel.
  • The third Bee, launched in 1915, was an Insect class gunboat, sold in 1939.
  • A fourth Bee, another river patrol boat, was ordered in 1939, but cancelled.
