HMS Abdiel

HMS Abdiel has been the name of three Royal Navy ships, named after Abdiel, a Seraph in Milton's Paradise Lost.
- HMS Abdiel (1915) - a Marksman class leader built by Cammell Laird, Birkenhead, laid down May 6, 1915, launched October 12, 1915, completed March 26, 1915, sold for scrapping 1936
- HMS Abdiel (M39) — a minelayer of the Abdiel class. She was launched on 23 April 1940. On 10 September 1943, she struck a mine and sank in a harbour in Taranto, Italy, while carrying troops. The mines had been laid only a few hours earlier, by two German motor torpedo boats as they escaped the harbour. She sank in three minutes, with heavy casualties.
- HMS Abdiel (N21) — an exercise minelayer and minecountermeasures support ship. Completed 1967. Displacement 1,500 tons, 265 feet long with a beam of 38 feet and a complement of 77.
