040628-N-6551H-018 Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (28 June 2004) - The Royal Australian Navy Adelaide-class frigate HMAS Newcastle (FFG06) and the Anzac class frigate HMAS Parramatta (FFH 154) are moored pier side at Naval Station Pearl Harbor as they await the beginning of the multi-national maritime exercise Rim of the Pacific 2004 (RIMPAC). RIMPAC is the largest international maritime exercise in the waters around the Hawaiian Islands. This years exercise will include seven participating nations; Australia, Canada, Chile, Japan, South Korea, United Kingdom and the United States. RIMPAC is intended to enhance the tactical proficiency of participating units in a wide array of combined operations at sea, while enhancing stability in the Pacific Rim region.
