I thought it might be nice (and cleaner eventually?) to split this article up into sections that deal with each season. In this way it is clear who was a cast member during which years, etc and we can expand each season's section to indicate popular character/sketch debuts, infamous events, etc. Ideally we could even begin to move the entire "Seventies" history into each season section where possible. Once we get the format correct in 1975-1980, we could then bring this format into the other periods. Jeff schiller 18:06, 2004 Dec 2 (UTC)

The first cast members were Second City alumni Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, and Gilda Radner and Groundlings alumni Chevy Chase (whose trademark became his usual falls and opening spiel that ushered in the show's opening), Jane Curtin, Laraine Newman, and Garrett Morris. This is wrong. Of the latter four people, only Newman had ever been in the Groundlings.Bjones

[edit] Alternate organization

The History of Saturday Night Live (1990-1995) has some improvements that should be considered for the other articles in the series, such as:

  • eliminating the Season Breakdown section, promoting all items within it
  • moving season-specific comments to the appropriate section instead of lumping them all together in the introduction
  • adding a Hosts and musical guests section and providing a cross-reference there to the right section in List of Saturday Night Live hosts and musical guests

If you agree these changs represent improvements, consider applying them here too. Thanks. 66.167.139.170 11:33, 29 January 2006 (UTC).
